While the natural hedgerows are disappearing, we can all re-boot the system and plant our own hedges are part of our own garden’s eco-system. When I was presented with a tricky landscaped steep hill-side retaining wall that was spread long and narrow across my front rural garden boundary, my first thoughts instantly brought me back to the hedgerows of my childhood. t could be a wonderful entry point for insects, bees, wild native birds and, most wonderfully, pests into the garden.

Heywood Gardens is situated near the towns of Abbeyleix and Ballinakill in Ireland's centre, and is a garden that began its life in the 1700's with additional planning and design completed in 1912, Both the parkland and meditarean style garden compliment each other greatly and is worth more than just a quick peek for visitors.

I have made the pastry gluten free as I have coeliacs disease. It's taken me along time to perfect, but now although theres many different ingredients to the Irish original, it tastes similar and has the same crunch as it comes hot out of the oven.

Unlike most women, I actually do enjoy a whiskey (and if we are in Scotland, a whisky). Many ladies wouldn't really be that honest, but I do like the occasional dram. I know its not glamorous like a cocktail, or timid and clear like a gin, but it has depth and colour and tastes a little different from country to country, which I like. I'm definitely not an "always whiskey" drinker, but I have done a few tours in my time due to general interest in Scotland and Australia so a trip to Jameson...

From the Hunger Strikes, Culture, Sport, Irish Language and more, some originally painted over 30 years ago, they are constantly being restored, updated and added to. Everywhere you look in Belfast there are murals, too many to count, even the tourist maps only feature a selection, so a visit to the city is the best way to see all the murals you can....
